Cute Things to Write in a Love Note
The best love notes are short and specific. 'I love you' is true but forgettable. 'You still do that thing with your eyebrows when you're pretending not to be annoyed' is the kind of line someone rereads.
Say the specific thing, not the general thing
Instead of 'you make me happy,' try naming the moment: the way they laugh at their own jokes before they finish telling them, the playlist they always put on for a long drive, the way they text back three words when they're busy but somehow it's still enough.
Specific beats sweeping almost every time, because it proves you were actually paying attention, not just filling a note with the nearest available compliment.
A few starting lines, if you're stuck
'Just so you know, you're the best part of my day. Every day.' 'Thinking about you doing something completely ordinary right now and smiling about it.' 'I don't have anything to say, I just wanted you to hear from me.' 'You make even a Monday feel a little less like a Monday.'
Pick one, change three words so it sounds like you, and send it. The note doesn't need to be original enough to publish. It needs to sound like your voice, not a stranger's.
Leave room for them to write back
A note that ends with a small question ('what's the best thing that happened today?') gets a reply. A note that just states a feeling, doesn't. Both are fine, but if you want the exchange to keep going, give them something to respond to.
