Privacy

Lovebeam is a private mailbox for two people. This page explains what we store, what Apple and our billing partner may process, and what we do not claim.

Who the product is for

Lovebeam connects two devices with a single-use invitation. There is no email or password account. Your phone holds a private device credential in the iOS Keychain. Optional intimate notes and the shared wishlist are for adult partners who both choose to turn those features on.

What we store on our servers

  • A hashed device session (not the raw token) so your phone can reach the mailbox.
  • Hashed, one-use recovery codes that expire after 15 minutes.
  • Pairing state for your two-person mailbox and expiring invitation codes.
  • Note text, stamps, optional opening and sign-off, delivery schedule, open state, optional reactions, and whether a note is a love note or an Eyes Only (intimate) note.
  • Per-person choices to hide a delivered note from your own mailbox or keepsakes (your partner’s copy is unchanged unless they hide theirs too).
  • Optional display names and illustrated couple icons you each choose.
  • Delivery preferences (hours, frequency, timezone).
  • App version strings so intimate features and the wishlist stay paused until both of you are on matching versions.
  • Shared wishlist items you choose to share (text, stage, responses, reflections), plus whether each of you has intimate notes enabled.
  • Push device tokens so we can send delivery alerts that never include note text.
  • Subscription access for the couple (whether sharing is unlocked, and when access expires), verified with Apple using your Lovebeam person identity, not your Apple ID email.
  • Short-lived hashed rate-limit signals (including a hashed network address) to protect the service from abuse. We do not use these for advertising.

Intimate notes and the wishlist

Eyes Only notes and the shared wishlist are optional. Each of you must turn intimate notes on, and both phones must report the same app version, before those notes can be sent or the shared list appears. Private wishlist drafts stay on your phone until you share them. Reveal, scratch-to-open, and covering the note when you leave the app are privacy on this screen; they are not end-to-end encryption. Intimate note text still syncs through your shared mailbox like ordinary notes.

Purchases

Inviting, joining, browsing, private drafts, reading notes, and reactions stay free. Sending notes, sharing wishes, and changing shared plans need one annual subscription for the couple. Payment is processed by Apple. We confirm your couple’s plan on our servers so both partners can share after one of you pays. We do not store your full payment card details. You can restore purchases and manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings (and from links in the app).

What stays on your phone

Drafts, a local cache of notes, names you type before they sync, private wishlist drafts, and widget unread counts (count only, never note text) are saved on device. If you are offline, you can still read what is already on the phone.

Encryption and honesty

Notes and wishes are transmitted to our server over HTTPS so they can be scheduled and delivered while the apps are closed. We do not claim end-to-end encryption: the server can read note and wish content in order to operate the mailbox. Push notifications and the Home Screen widget never include the words inside a note.

Deletion

You can remove waiting notes before they land, hide delivered notes from your own copy or keepsakes, unpair from your person, or delete your mailbox in the app. Unpairing ends the connection and permanently removes exchanged notes and shared wishes from the server, while keeping your device identity, private drafts, and any plan tied to your identity. Deleting your mailbox removes your device identity and server-side notes for that identity, and unpairs you if needed. Your partner’s offline copy may remain until their next sync.

Children

Lovebeam is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region). Optional intimate features are intended for adults who both opt in.
