Anniversary messages for your partner
A good anniversary message looks back at one real moment and forward to the next year. It doesn't need to be long. These 27 cover first anniversaries, long marriages, short lines for a card, and anniversaries spent apart.
First anniversary messages
One year in, still a little giddy.
A year ago I was nervous about texting you first. Look at us now.
One year of you, and I still get excited when your name pops up on my phone.

After all this time, you're still the person I want to tell first.
Happy anniversary to my favourite habit.
We're not the people we were when we met. I fell for both versions of you.
Here's to more years of finishing each other's sentences wrong.
Short anniversary messages for a card

Another year of loving you. Easy.

Funny anniversary messages

Happy anniversary. You're still my favourite person to argue with about the thermostat.
How to write an anniversary message that feels personal
Start with one specific memory from the past year, or from the day you met. Then say what you're looking forward to. Memory plus future is a simple structure that almost always works.
Avoid summing up the whole relationship in one sentence. 'You're my everything' is lovely but vague; 'You held my hand the whole way through Dad's operation' is the kind of line people keep.
A note that arrives a little before the day, as a surprise in the middle of the afternoon, can land better than one that's lost among morning-of messages from family and friends.
Questions
Common questions
What do you write in an anniversary message?
Mention one real memory, say what you love about them now, and look ahead to next year. Three or four sentences is plenty. If it's for a card, one honest line can be enough.
What is a short anniversary message for my partner?
Something like 'Still you. Always you' or 'Best decision I ever made'. Short works best when it's sincere and clearly about the two of you.
